The two remaining SPANISH CUP 1º leg Quarter Finals were celebrated tonight with the following results & scorers.

ALMERIA
& DEPORTIVO A CORUÑA had never come this far in the Spanish Cup competition with the 1º leg going to Almeria 1 - 0. The only goal came in the 34th min via ORTIZ that sets up nicely the Q/Final in the 2º leg as Deportivo still has their chances wide open.

A very intense & hard battled 1º leg Quarter Final clash between REAL MADRID & ATLETICO DE MADRID, full of great Football, plenty of controversial refree decisions & goals. Real Madrid won 3 - 1 with a fabulous Ozil being the master of ceremony, a spectacular Atletico de Madrid goalie David De Gea who stopped Real from scoring more goals & a "sloppy" Atletico defence in the end that allowed Real Madrid to open the aggregate at the end.

Atletico started well early with a DIEGO FORLAN opener in the 6 th min, but that was basically it as Real Madrid began attacking in waves & at rapid speed. The Atletico idea was then to get out of the "Santiago Bernabeu Stadium" alive to fight in the 2º leg in their home turf...

The Real Madrid goals came via SERGIO RAMOS in the 19th min with a header, CRISTIANO RONALDO in the 60th min & OZIL from a terrible Atletico defensive mistake in the 89th min.

We can certainly talk about the Atletico missed chances, the various unfair referee decisions that could have given Atletico a "prize" & the great attempt to keep out the Real Madrid "flood" all night, but it was not the case. Atletico lose again to their arch rival & will have to do a minor "miracle" in the 2ºleg if they wish to continue in the Spanish Cup.
