SPANISH FOOTBALL | SPANISH LEAGUE - LIGA 2010 - 2011 | ROUND 15 | SUNDAY GAMES RESULTS

SPANISH FOOTBALL Sunday Round 15 action with six games , & as Saturday, with some surprise results that keeps the Spanish League - La Liga bubbling with anticipation & talk. Here is a brief run down of events with the results & the scorers.

At. Bilbao stops the Espanyol run of wins

Playing a match at ATHLETIC DE BILBAO is always a difficult affair as the "Lions" roar with the support of their loyal fans. One of the traits of Bilbao is that they never know when to give in & tonight RCD ESPANYOL found out why with a 2 - 1 defeat.

Espanyol started well & were following their habitual winning script with a 33rd min goal by OSVALDO that put them in the correct track. However, Bilbao are a tough nut to crack at home & slowly transformed things to their advantage & were rewarded with the equalizer via LLORENTE in the 73rd min. Espanyol "collapsed" to the Bilbao onslaught & the winner came in the 78th min via a DAVID LOPEZ direct free-kick to lift the roof off the "San Mames Stadium".

Drenthe back on Top

HERCULES took the idea away from MALAGA that things were changing for the better with a convincing 4 - 1 victory. Malaga started well with an 11th min goal through SEBAS FERNANDES & looked good all the first half. But the second half was all Hercules with a string of goals starting with fabulous TREZEGUET magic in the 67th min, DRENTHE with a penalty in the 69th min, PAZ in the 71st min & KIKO FEMENIA in the 81st min. It was a demolition job by Hercules in the last half hour. Spectacle to watch.

Serrano in Football ecstasy

The picture above says it all. SERRANO scores the winner for RACING DE SANTANDER who played away to MALLORCA. The Racing hero put the ball in the net & gave his team the much needed three points in the 90th min. Result 0 - 1

Sporting - Levante share the points

REAL SPORTING DE GIJON & LEVANTE aren´t exactly having an easy season & are way down on the ladder. Both need points & tonight they finished their game in a 1 - 1 draw. Both teams had their chances to take the prize & it was Levante via CAICEDO who scored first in the 72nd min. However, EGUREN saved the day for Gijon with his equalizer in the 80th min.

Ozil scores for Real Madrid

REAL ZARAGOZA lost 1 - 3 to REAL MADRID. Real Madrid did the job in the first 45 minutes although Zaragoza did annoy a few times with their attacks. Real Madrid shook off the Zaragoza early attempts & in the 14th min Marcelo produced a brilliant pass to find OZIL who scored. This put the Madrid machine in action further & CRISTIANO RONALDO managed to score a direct free kick in the 44th min that left the Zaragoza keeper Franco standing still watching as the ball flew pass. DI MARIA scored the third in the 46th min with a chip over the keeper from a Xabi pass.

Real Madrid "relaxed" somewhat & Zaragoza took advantage to find a penalty awarded from a Carvalho foul that GABI converted in the 63rd min. From here onwards more chances for Real Madrid who missed,  & young Real forward MORATA made his debut getting a run towards the end ( & nearly scored!). Real Madrid keeps the pressure on FC Barcelona.

Great match from Andres Iniesta

FC BARCELONA hosted REAL SOCIEDAD & left it clear which Club is currently in charge of the Spanish League with a 5 - 0 victory. Apart from this,  & at a more personal level, LIONEL MESSI scored a couple, dominated proceedings to steer his team onto victory & maintains his particular battle with Real Madrid player Cristiano Ronaldo for the Liga Top goal scorer title.

Not much to really add, apart that the match was a one team exhibition from Barça with goals from VILLA in the 8th min, INIESTA in the 32nd min, MESSI twice in the 46th & 86th min & BOJAN with the fifth in the 89th min.Any doubts which Club is flying high?

TOMORROW - Last game of Round 15 in Monday night Football: Valencia CF - Osasuna
