REAL MADRID 2010 | HIGUAIN INJURY, RONALDO INJURY, RED CARD SUSPENSIONS, UEFA FINES... | BAD WEEK

How Football can change the course of Clubs & the life of persons is already well known. REAL MADRID is understanding the saying that goes “…when it rains it pours” as today was confirmed that Argentine forward GONZALO HIGUAIN has a back hernia that may put him out of action 3 months. The player was tested this morning & the injury was confirmed & now it has to be decided if he undergoes immediate surgery or undergoes more “conservative” treatment. Everything points towards immediate surgery.

Higuain injury could put him out 3 months

This puts Karim Benzema in the spot light as the natural replacement, but this is´nt building much confidence at Real Madrid as the Frenchmen is performing way below the level expected. In fact, his non-performance last Monday in the Real Madrid 5 – 0 defeat to Barcelona has put a long & dark shadow over the future of Benzema as many believe he hasn´t the qualities needed to play at Real Madrid. The reality is that serious rumours have appeared that Real Madrid will sign a forward in the “Winter Market” which starts the 1st of January 2011. The names sounding are Portuguese 26 year old striker HUGO ALMEIDA who plays at German Club Werder Bremen & finishes contract & Manchester City forward EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR who is not counting at all at the English Club. Everything indicates that the Almeida is in the box seat to be signed & replace the injured Higuain. Stay tuned!

However there is more bad news for the Club. Apart from meeting Valencia CF this Saturday, Real Madrid do so without Carvalho & Sergio Ramos serving their match suspension penalty,  & possibly without Cristiano Ronaldo who is suffering some complications with his right ankle. Most believe Ronaldo will recover in time, but for the moment,  he is not travelling to help the Spain - Portugal World Cup 2018 bid in Zurich & is resting in attempts to shake off the aches & pains.

All this is on top of the heavy psychological blow from the Barça defeat & the UEFA +200.000€ fine to the Club - along with Mourinho & the players - involved in the Champions League “yellow cards” incident with Ajax.

A very dark week indeed for the Madrid Club with injuries, fines, psychologically battered players & others team members with their credibility & future on the line. If looked at objectively, this Saturdays match against Valencia CF is super important for the team. A good win will blow away some doubts & help the “heeling” process or a loss may be the beginning of a dangerous “downward” spiral.

Football, one day you’re the King of the World & the next your just shit!
